Chippendale Mahogany Chair Boston c. 1760-1785

Description: Having a carved serpentine crest rail over a pierced "owl's eye" splat and trapezoidal seat with loose upholstered seat frame on cabriole legs with pad feet connected by turned stretchers.

Woods: Primary; mahogany. Secondary; maple.

Dimensions: H. 37 ½ in. W. 23 ¼ in. D. 18 in.

Inscription: A chisel marked Roman numeral II is on the back rail of the slip seat.

Condition: Very good overall.

Federal Mahogany Desk and Bookcase Massachusetts, c.1810

Description: Having an upper case with two drawers over a pair of glazed doors behind which are birdseye maple veneered small drawers and valenced pigeon hold sitting atop a lower case with a folding writing flap over three cock beaded drawers on turned and reeded legs.

Woods: Primary; mahogany with mahogany and birdseye maple veneer and inlay. Secondary; white pine.

Dimensions: W. 42 ¼ in. D. 22 in. H. 62 ½ in.

Condition: Original baize writing surface with gold embossed leather trim. Replaced brasses and minor repairs to veneer.

Federal Cherry Candlestand Probably Connecticut River Valley, c. 1780-1800

Description: Having a square fixed top with carved corners on a turned standard on cabriole legs with pad feet.

Wood: Cherry

Dimensions: Height 26 ½ in. Top 16 ½ in x 17 in.

Condition: Has an excellent old surface.

References: A candlestand with a round top and identical standard and legs sold at Skinner's June 3, 2007 lot #165.
